
Carolynn Johnson, Candidate for Hampton Council
Carolynn Johnson joined the Hampton Township Council in 2018, with the vision of promoting citizen-centered government and advocating a greater sense of community in Hampton. She is seeking re-election to further those goals. Carolynn serves as the current Council President and as President of the North Hills Council of Governments’ Executive Board, while also serving as Council liaison to the Hampton Community Library Board and the Police and Fire Departments. She previously chaired the Steering Committee for the Township’s Comprehensive Plan, which extensively engaged Hampton citizens and business owners, and contributed to the redesign of the Township’s website for greater ease of use. As a dedicated user-centered researcher and designer, Carolynn is committed to promoting a citizen-centered and plain-language approach to Hampton’s government and she places great importance on fostering a stronger sense of community. Throughout her two terms, she has advocated for increasing the frequency and variety of Township-hosted events, for physically connecting our neighborhoods, and for increasing accessible amenities. Carolynn has lived in Hampton with her family since 2005. She holds a doctorate in cognitive psychology and leads business process engineering for a law firm headquartered in Pittsburgh. Bethany H. Blackburn, Candidate for Hampton Council
Bethany H. Blackburn has served on Hampton Township Council since January 2018. She is the Vice-Chair on the Shaler-Hampton EMS Board of Directors and is the liaison to the Depreciation Lands Museum. Bethany is seeking reelection to continue creating a first-rate community while being a good steward of our financial resources.
Bethany has a BA in economics from Smith College and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. She served in the Peace Corps and worked for several years as a municipal budget analyst. She is now the CEO of the North Side Christian Health Center. Her career in healthcare also includes management of the Center for Care of Infectious Diseases at UPMC Presbyterian and oversight of multiple specialties at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Bethany leads two Girl Scout troops and is a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She and her husband, Jason, have three children, who all attend Hampton public schools. They are proud to call Hampton their home.

Julie Fritsch currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Hampton Township Zoning Hearing Board. Julie is running to improve our community, our partnerships, and attract new businesses, while maintaining fiscal integrity. Julie is the founder of Fritsch Law LLC and holds a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Her practice focuses on workers’ compensation, personal injury, veterans’ and social security disability, wills, and estate administration. Julie is excited to apply her legal background in service of the Hampton community.
Julie is actively involved in the Hampton community as Vice President - Fundraising for the Hampton Athletic Association and Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Hampton Alliance for Educational Excellence. Lissa is a strong advocate for children and families through her work as a public school teacher, a state house staffer, a nonprofit leader, and a private consultant. Lissa has championed the need for quality, affordable pre-k and childcare, and adequately and fairly funded public schools. On County Council, Lissa will ensure that impactful County programs expand and policies that work against our families are discontinued or remedied. Lissa will defend the civil and constitutional rights of all people regardless of what they look like, where they come from, or who they love. Lissa will connect local leaders working on policy issues including economic development for the Pittsburgh region, stormwater, transit, civil rights, emergency services, parks, and air quality. Lissa is a Hampton Rotarian, a board member of HAEE (the foundation supporting Hampton public schools), a PTO board member, and a Democratic state committee member. In addition to time in private practice, Jason has spent the last ten years representing local government agencies and nonprofits in the Pittsburgh area. Jason's experience also includes serving on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. Jason and his wife have two children who attend Hampton public schools.
